Brunelcare meets Bristol’s Lord Mayor

Brunelcare employees and tenants met Bristol’s Lord Mayor, Councillor Lesley Alexander, not once but twice in one week!

On 19th September Councillor Lesley Alexander, who has dedicated her year to tackling and highlighting social isolation in the elderly, visited Brunelcare’s Colliers Gardens extra care housing scheme, bringing smiles to all the tenants’ faces.

The Lord Mayor is exploring ways to develop retirement clubs across the city and spent time speaking with people who live at Colliers Gardens in Fishponds, which also provides social activities enjoyed by residents in the wider local community.

Bert Bembridge, aged 101, presented the Lord Mayor with a floral basket during the visit.

Then on Saturday 23rd September paths crossed again at Age UK Bristol’s Celebrating Age Festival when the Lord Mayor presented our tenants Joan Botha and Fred Harman with first and second prizes in the festival’s art competition!
