How many senior management teams can you think of who would choose to spend the night sleeping on the streets in mid-November, with nothing but a sleeping bag and cardboard mat?
Well, five of Brunelcare’s employees, including the CEO Kevin Fairman, the Director of Care Homes Jan Little and their Head of Clinical Excellence Sandra Payne, did just this on Thursday night, taking part in ‘Sleep Out 2018’ an initiative organised in Bristol by and in aid of 1625 Independent People, a youth homelessness charity.
Of their team ‘sleep out’ experience Kevin said:
“We found it very thought provoking to meet and hear stories from some of the inspirational and brave young people that 1625 Independent People have supported. On how it felt to sleep out last night? I can’t say I slept much! The estimate that half of the population snore would seem to be on the low side.”
As a charity, Brunelcare is a provider of more than 1,000 homes in Bristol, including private accommodation, sheltered and extra care housing and care homes. As a Registered Social Landlord the charity is therefore familiar with meeting housing needs, on occasions providing a much needed home to people who could have faced being homeless.
